Oktoberfest is a festival celebrated throughout the world. It began in Germany in 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig married Princess Therese. The couple invited the citizens of Munich to celebrate the festivities. The tradition continues to this day, and millions of visitors from all over the world gather in Munich to celebrate Oktoberfest each year. If you can’t experience Oktoberfest in Germany, plenty of towns across America hold their own festivals to celebrate the end of summer and welcome in fall.
